A money tree is a tree that grows bells. They put out a bell once, and as soon as you shake the money bag off the tree, it turns into a normal tree.

How To Grow Money Trees In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The number of bells each tree gives varies depending on how deep you are buried in the glowing hole. If you plant 2,000 bells, each bag on the tree will contain 2,000 bells, for a total of 6,000 bells. Some players say that burying 99,000 calls will result in three bags of 99,000 pieces. Based on our testing and research, planting 10,000 calls will not pay off.
If the tree is in a place you don’t like, you can use your shovel after planting the bells. Dig up the seedlings and plant them elsewhere. This does not affect the number of calls you receive from the tree.
Update (March 27): Based on our research and experience, we’ve added more information about what happens when you plant high Bell values.

This space will be available all day, so if you don’t have at least 10,000 calls in your pocket, go ahead and try to get that much before moving on. This will benefit you in the long run. You can still grow a money tree without many bells, but your tree will be much cheaper.
Once you’re ready to send your call, explore the magical, glowing place. You will dig 1000 bells. Keep your shovel away, but don’t cover the glowing hole! Instead, you take 10,000 bells from your Bell Vault and turn them into items. Do this by selecting a call from the list and then selecting 10,000 calls as shown in the screenshot below.
You can also bury more than 10,000 simultaneous calls. Some users get 30,000 calls and more. reported that it had been successfully buried. are investigating how well it works, but we haven’t managed to grow any trees that produce more than 10,000 bags of bells. Plant more at your own risk.
Once your call is detailed, select a call in the list to bury it. Also, if you can’t get 10,000 calls, you can plant the 1,000 calls you get, but again your money tree will produce significantly less calls.

Ta-da! A small sprout that appears confirms that you have successfully planted your first money tree. After a few days, your tree will fully grow and start producing three bags of bells. Each bag is worth the amount you plant, so if you plant 10,000 bells, you’ll get 30,000 bells from that tree. Remember, you can only shake the stick once for money.
Did you know you can replant a money tree if it’s in a bad spot? All you need to dig up a money tree is fruit and a trusty shovel. The tree appears in your inventory as a small tree with a bag of bells. Its name changes depending on how much it grows. A new tree is called a ‘Nursery Money Tree’ and a tree that is a few days old is called a ‘Small Young Money Tree’.
Did you know that some trees fall when you shake a bell? Rumor has it that if you hit a random tree once a day, you’ll get more calls! There are also random rocks that drop bells instead of resources when you hit them with a shovel. This stone changes every day.
Players, including some of our staff, have successfully planted over 10,000 bell bags without time travel cheats and successfully planted over 10,000 bell bags. It is random and based on luck. For this reason, we do not recommend it as a profitable way to earn money.

How To Plant A Money Tree In Animal Crossing To Earn Free Bells?
If you’ve never heard of a money tree, don’t stress. Most people don’t. Basically, when playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s important to make calls in any way possible. For many, this may mean time to travel or play and sell carrots at the lesson market. Whatever you decide, setting up a money tree is a great and legitimate way to make a lot of calls quickly.
Find a shiny spot on the ground, then dig it up to be rewarded with a Bell.
Now that you know what you need, let’s start the process. All you have to do is wait until you find one of the bright spots on the ground – you know the one looking for the bell. When you find one (it should appear every day), dig up and claim the bell. But wait! Do not fill this hole again. Instead, open your inventory and pick up the call you left behind. If you haven’t saved it yet, take 10,000 bells from your wallet and they should go into your inventory. This allows you to interact with them and plant them in holes if you still have a shovel.
Plant 10,000 bells in the shiny hole you dug, then wait a few days for the money tree to grow.
Psa. 99k Bells Is Maximum For A Money Tree, Not 10k!
Once you’ve buried 10,000 calls, move on. After a few days, the tree will grow and give you 30,000 bells (if you plant 10,000 bells). Then it will continue to give you more calls every few days which will give you regular income. If you have space, please make full use of the other sparkling holes found around the island.
