If you’ve recently purchased a fiddle leaf fig and you notice brown spots, keep an eye on the area to watch for spread or decay.
Common Reasons For Brown Spots On Fiddle Leaf Figs
Dark spots caused by past problems don’t require attention – as long as they don’t spread! Think of it as a scar. Unfortunately, leaves do not regenerate after damage. So it’s important to make sure it doesn’t go wrong.
In this post, I’ll explain the various causes of dark spots on the FLF, and by the end, you should be able to figure out what causes spots on your Fiddle and how to make sure it doesn’t happen.
Don’t be discouraged by all the causes of acne! Once you begin to recognize the different types, you will be able to easily diagnose your FLF and restore it to full health. Here is a list of the main causes of damaged or damaged stains and how to fix them.
Sunburned leaves can be white to yellow or dark red. Dark spots from the sun will turn brown and may have a yellow ring around the edges. The sun is not limited to a certain part of the leaf, such as the edges.

Also, if the leaves are constantly wet due to misting, they can develop bacterial diseases! If your home is too dry, the best option is to consider buying plants to add moisture to the room. Make sure you use it near (but not on) your plant.

Dark spots caused by root rot are similar to overwatering. This is because if excess water is left untreated, it can lead to root canals. However, root rot is a serious problem as you will need to repot your FLF and remove the rotting roots.
Similarly, signs of root rot appear as brown or black spots on the leaves of the plant. Measuring root rot involves checking the roots of the plant.
If you’ve noticed rotting roots, prepare a potting soil mixture to repot. Repeat the FLF by removing as much old soil as possible with your hands or hose. Use scissors to remove rotten roots. Mix your FLF with the fresh water, making sure it goes well.
Why Is My Fiddle Leaf Fig Limp And Drooping?
Lack of light can also cause dark spots, but it also contributes to water problems. When your FLF is in full sunlight, the soil will dry out and the leaves will be able to use more of the water they receive through photosynthesis, resulting in better health. FLFs are full sun in nature, but can grow in shade. Be sure to place the Fiddle where it receives at least a lot of direct light. If you can’t give your FLF sunlight, consider placing a grow light near it for better health and growth.
Swelling of fig leaves is normal and not a big problem. However, the evidence can be scary and make you think something is wrong! The swelling looks like small red-brown spots on newly growing leaves. It appears when new leaves are growing, so it usually appears on the top of the plant (or on new leaves).
Bloating is caused by inconsistent or excessive watering and occurs when the leaf cells absorb too much water and burst. The swelling is less noticeable as the leaves mature, however if it persists, be sure to adjust your watering schedule according to the above points.

Yellowing can sometimes increase due to lack of light; so make sure your Fiddle leaves have plenty of light and it’s important to let the soil dry out a bit between waterings. The yellow leaves will eventually fall off the plant.
Remember that it is normal for a Fiddle leaf fig to grow on some of the lower leaves to start falling naturally. If your plant is medium in size and has a thick, dark and woody stem, it is normal for the leaf to drop from time to time. However, if it is sudden or contains many leaves at once, it may indicate a problem.
